Conceptual art

Is there a margin where you say art is process-based or art is conceptual-based? Does it matter how good the artwork looks, how long the artist spent time on it or does it matter more the idea behind? What makes an something art?

In Art today we were given a cart of materials and to assemble together something within the hour. The goal to focus more on the concept of the artwork instead of the process.

With the absence of Tiara and Abi it leaves to only me doing the activity. Hopefully their follow ups will be soon :)

"Enclosed" by Chi Mai.
Carton, copper wire, wire mesh. 2013.

Enclosed: to be surrounded, closed in on all sides.

The interesting behind this piece is the shape of the carton, shaped like a little city, that is enclosed by the wire mesh, representing the idea of being "trapped", forgotten. The copper wire bundle on top further demonstrates the idea of the city being forgotten, like spider webs on unused things.
